Hollywood gave horror fans a treat this Halloween — and it came with razor-sharp fingers.
On Friday, Robert Englund, the iconic actor who terrified generations as Freddy Krueger, was honored with his very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The 78-year-old actor was celebrated by longtime friends, co-stars, and a massive crowd of horror enthusiasts who gathered on the spookiest day of the year to pay tribute to the man behind one of cinema’s most terrifying villains.

A Nightmare Legend Honored in Style
Dressed sharply for the occasion, Englund struck a familiar pose as he lifted Freddy’s infamous glove — complete with its gleaming steel claws — for photographers.
The moment drew cheers from the crowd, who shouted lines from the A Nightmare on Elm Street series and held up vintage movie posters in tribute.
Englund smiled and waved, clearly touched by the love from fans who have followed his career from stage to screen.
“I can’t imagine a more fitting day to receive this honor,” he said, referencing Halloween. “Freddy may haunt your dreams — but today, you’ve made my dream come true.”

Heather Langenkamp’s Touching Tribute
The ceremony featured heartfelt speeches from Heather Langenkamp, who starred opposite Englund as Nancy Thompson in the 1984 horror classic, and Eli Roth, acclaimed horror filmmaker and producer.
Langenkamp spoke with emotion as she recalled the early days of A Nightmare on Elm Street:
“They spent months preparing that glove and that silhouette — the hat, the sweater, the burns — all of it. And when I see Robert’s name on this star, I think of the five fingers of that dirty, oily glove we all feared.”
She also praised Englund’s dedication to his craft and his unique ability to bring humanity to horror:
“It was Robert who choreographed our fights. He made sure the glove was just close enough to my face to give me shivers — but never too close to harm me. That’s the kind of artist he is — precise, thoughtful, and terrifyingly good.”

Eli Roth on Freddy’s Impact: “He Made Death Fun”
Before Langenkamp spoke, Eli Roth took the podium to reflect on how Englund forever changed horror cinema.
“Up until Freddy Krueger, slashers were silent — Michael Myers, Jason, they didn’t talk. Robert made death fun, with one-liners and charisma that made us root for the monster.”
Roth also recalled working with Englund on 2001 Maniacs, sharing how the veteran actor spoke more about Shakespeare and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art than about special effects or gore.
“He’s not just Freddy Krueger — he’s a classically trained actor who understands how to find humanity, even in a monster. That’s his real power.”

A Lifetime of Horror — and Humanity
With more than 100 film credits to his name, Englund has become one of Hollywood’s most recognizable — and beloved — figures in the horror genre.
From the original A Nightmare on Elm Street to cameos in Stranger Things and countless convention appearances, his presence continues to inspire both filmmakers and fans alike.
Taking the microphone after the tributes, Englund thanked his fans for decades of support:
“You’ve let me haunt your dreams for over 40 years. But the truth is, you’re the ones who kept Freddy alive. This star belongs to every fan who ever screamed, laughed, or looked under their bed at night.”
As the crowd roared, Englund raised Freddy’s glove once again, smiling through the applause.

The Legacy Lives On
For horror fans, the moment was more than a celebration — it was a full-circle tribute to a man who transformed nightmares into art.
One fan summed it up perfectly on social media:
“Freddy finally made it to Hollywood Boulevard — and he didn’t even need to slash his way there.”
