Report: GUNTHER Expected to Face John Cena in Final WWE Match

Although WWE has yet to make an official announcement, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that GUNTHER has been selected as John Cena’s final opponent. The highly anticipated matchup is being viewed as a potential “passing of the torch” moment — pitting one of the greatest superstars in WWE history against one of the most dominant competitors of the modern era.

Cena’s ongoing retirement tour has been one of the central storylines of WWE programming throughout 2025. The farewell run has featured a string of high-profile bouts, including a showdown with Brock Lesnar at Wrestlepalooza and an emotional rivalry with Cody Rhodes, during which the two traded the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Following his recent victory over AJ Styles at WWE’s Crown Jewel premium live event, Cena has just a few appearances left before his in-ring career officially concludes. He is scheduled to appear on upcoming editions of Monday Night Raw in Boston and Madison Square Garden, leading up to a rumored final match at Survivor Series on November 29.

If confirmed, a clash between Cena and GUNTHER could serve as a fitting finale for the 16-time world champion — a symbolic handoff from a living legend to one of WWE’s brightest stars.
