Kim Kardashian Reveals She Did Not Pass the California Bar Exam — But Says She’s Not Giving Up
Kim Kardashian, 45, has officially confirmed she did not pass the California bar exam on her first attempt after completing her legal apprenticeship earlier this year.
On Nov. 8, the reality star and entrepreneur shared her results on Instagram, writing:
Kim Kardashian did not pass the California bar – the most difficult one to pass in the country – but says she is not giving up.
“Well… I’m not a lawyer yet. I just play a very well-dressed one on TV.”
“Six years into this law journey, and I’m still all in until I pass the bar. No shortcuts, no giving up.”
In a recent interview, Kardashian revealed she sometimes used AI — specifically ChatGPT — as a study tool while preparing for exams.
However, she said the chatbot often gave incorrect answers:
“They’re always wrong. It has made me fail tests all the time.”
Kim joked that she even gets mad at the AI:
“I’ll yell at it — ‘You made me fail!’ And it will talk back to me.”
Six-Year Journey Toward Becoming an Attorney
Kim Kardashian began her legal journey in 2018, following the four-year California apprenticeship route instead of attending law school.
Major milestones so far:
Passed the Baby Bar on her fourth attempt (2021)
Passed the MPRE (ethics exam) in March 2024
Completed her legal apprenticeship earlier this year
Her mentor, attorney Jessica Jackson, praised her dedication:
“Six years ago, Kim walked into this program with nothing but a fierce desire to fight for justice… No shortcuts, just determination.”

During her appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Kim hinted that law could become her full-time career:
“Maybe in 10 years, I think I’ll give up being Kim K. and be a trial lawyer. That’s what I really want.”
She added that she wants growth and purpose:
“I always want to be evolving and see wherever that takes me.”
Kim made it clear to fans:
“Falling short isn’t failure — it’s fuel.”
She says she’s preparing to retake the exam and will continue studying — just not with ChatGPT this time.
